Keeping You In The Know

Students carry their experiences at home with them into school. This affects their ability to learn and engage, but can be an invisible weight, making it hard to know who needs your support.

That’s where knowtifyED comes in, to tell you exactly who you need to connect with today.

Know before the bell rings with knowtifyED

The Information Gap: If You Don’t Know, You Can’t Act.

How are you getting information each day?

School personnel cannot always know what students are experiencing in the home and in the community-- but they serve as first line providers addressing any trauma that results.

Meanwhile, first responders (police/fire) are aware, and incidents such as domestic violence, drug overdoses, or child abuse/neglect are documented by officers. What if your staff could have this insight before the bell rings?

A national model called "Handle With Care," started in West Virginia and implemented in hundreds of communities across the country, establishes a framework for communication from first responders to schools to identify children who are exposed to trauma. However, in most places, officers must manually send the information to the school via text, email, or an app. This means training, supervision, and time taken at each call for service.

knowtifyED automates the notification process, increasing notifications by up to 10X!

What are Adverse Childhood Experiences?

Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs, are potentially traumatic events that occur in childhood. According to the CDC, there are three types of ACEs: Abuse, Neglect, and Household Challenges.

Learn more

Students with one ACE are 2.5X more likely to be chronically absent. For every additional ACE, that risk goes up 25%.

Chronic absenteeism can cost the community over $5,000 per student. Reasons include physical health problems and feeling disconnected with school

Attendance

Children with 3+ ACEs are 3X more likely to experience academic failure. ACEs are also associated with up to an 8X increase in concentration problems. The toxic stress from ACEs inhibits a student’s ability to learn.

Learning

Students with ACEs are nearly 4X more likely to face exclusionary discipline, as the trauma may manifest in defiant behavior. In turn, students who are suspended or expelled are 9X more likely to enter the juvenile justice system.
